九江潴一湖，占地楚封半。名城十二三，微茫缀湖畔。
夏秋水盛时，涵天四无岸。中流吐日星，余波沸江汉。
我行值仲冬，水落势平漫。犹然浩无涯，道里不可算。
安乡抵巴陵，淹泊屡昏旦。眠餐蛟龙窟，偃息冯夷馆。
风涛猛堪惊，云物奇可玩。霞蒸锦鲜新，日烁金灿烂。
水浮玻璃天，山横青玉案。帆移畏回飙，雁度愁弱翰。
城中标五湖，雄奇此为冠。平生慕图咏，及兹穷壮观。
最喜流潦清，客水尽消散。全湖露真形，山川见条贯。
惟湖有容德，不盈亦不暵。世人昧远览，临流畏湍悍。
不有大壑潴，数州尽沈灌。配渎能停潆，比海齐浩瀚。
愧无郭木才，神功莫能赞。亭毒思化源，望洋但三叹。

潘耒（1646～1708）清初学者。字次耕，一字稼堂、南村，晚号止止居士，藏书室名遂初堂、大雅堂，吴江（今属江苏苏州）人，潘柽章弟。师事徐枋、顾炎武，博通经史、历算、音学。清康熙十八年，举博学鸿词，授翰林院检讨，参与纂修《明史》，主纂《食货志》，终以浮躁降职。其文颇多论学之作，也能诗。所著有《类音》、《遂初堂诗集》、《文集》、《别集》等。
