英字实存，钱塘人。唐诗人厉玄之后也，素有能诗名。历走闽、海、江、淮、燕、汴。一日登径山，闻钟声，有省，遂弃官为浮屠，结茅天目山中。数年，遍参诸方，有道尊宿，皆印可之，故其诗有超然出世间趣。别号「白云」，即以名其诗集。牟巘翁、赵松雪、胡长孺、林石田、赵春洲辈皆为之序云。
