（?—1222）潭州衡山人，字彦直。从张栻学。孝宗淳熙八年进士。历知随州，时宋金议和，诸郡弛备，方独招兵择将。累迁京湖制置使兼知襄阳府，力主抗金，数解枣阳之围。又败金驸马阿海于淮西。进太中大夫、权刑部尚书。帅边十年，以战为守，使京西一境屡免金人蹂躏。能拔识人才，知名士陈赅、游九功及名将扈再兴、孟宗政，皆为擢任。得疾归，犹贻书宰相，论疆埸大计。
