译文
送别的酒劝你一醉方休，清秀而丰润的潘郎，你是哪家的郎婿？记住美女与升官所赏的喜钱，不要交给东边邻居好色的小人。
忆起京城那个美女密集的都市，我是英俊潇洒的不一般的人物。为向青楼女子寻觅往日风流韵事，在妓院的墙上还留着名字。
注释
蝶恋花：词牌名。又名“凤栖梧”“鹊踏枝”等。双调，六十字，上下片各四仄韵。
潘大临：字邠老，秀才，北宋江西派诗人，著有《柯山集》。苏轼贬居黄州时，二十多岁的潘大临从苏轼学诗习书。
钗头：由两股簪子交叉组合成的一种首饰，用来结住头发的称“钗子”。钗头系钗的首端，多指钗。这里代指美女。新利市：仕庆所赏得的钱，这里代指升官所得赏钱。
东邻子：东边邻居好色之子。
回首：回顾，忆起。长安：古都。这里泛指京都。佳丽：美丽的女子。
青楼：青漆涂饰的豪华精致的楼房。这里代指妓院中的女子。
花枝缺处：妓院，白居易《长安道》诗：花枝缺处青楼开。

蝶恋花·送潘大临创作背景
宋神宗元丰七年（1084年）三月。潘大临将赴省参试。苏轼借京都试成出仕文人昔日风流韵事作该词，激励潘大临的心志与大愿。

蝶恋花·送潘大临鉴赏
上片，以“酒”为媒体，写苏轼对潘大临的嘱咐与期望。“别酒劝君君一醉”，写饯行。“别酒”，象征深情厚谊。“劝君”，情谊非同寻常。一杯，君醉了。再一杯，自己也醉了。醉后吐真言：“清润潘郎，又是何郎婿？”第二、三句选择人生两大事进行议论：一是“学而优则仕”。二是“书中自有颜如玉”。文人过考，面临两大话题。每每提及，倍觉亲切自然。“清润”二字，饱含着苏轼对潘大临青春美的赞赏之情。“记取钗头新利市，莫将分付东邻子”，以史实为教训，苏轼叮嘱潘大临要记取：仕庆得到的赏钱与此而幸遇的美女是珍贵的，千万不要轻易丧失于东邻的好色之徒手中。可谓语重心长，语短情长。
下片，以梦幻、假想之笔，写苏轼以自己还未赴试人仕的美妙人生构想来激奋潘大临的功名心。“回首长安佳丽地，三十年前，我是风流帅”，以假想之笔，写了以往应试入仕之人的的美好回忆。“长安”京都，政治中心，处处都有“佳丽地”。多少“三十年前”的妙龄仕途男子，出入于繁华的“佳丽地”，常常发出幽悱的咏叹：“我是风流帅”。一个“风流帅”，一语双关，说政治上出人头地。神情上英姿潇洒。苏轼赴试将近20岁，即将赴京参试的正茂风华，预想成为“风流帅”人物的一天定会到来。最后两句，满怀深情地对潘郎说：“为向青楼寻旧事，花枝缺处馀名字”。想当年，我未亲自出入“佳丽地”。但而今，我就要“功成名遂早还乡”，已不可能寻觅青楼旧事，更不可能在青楼墙上留名，而只能“记取”了。言下之意，你该有信心去实现试后的“黄金屋”和“颜如玉”的人生两大美愿。
该词，写送潘大临赴省过考。以“蝶恋花”这一带有象征性意义的词牌，以“青楼”、“佳丽”这一带有显示性意义的题材，来嘱托、期望潘大临赴省参试获得成功。词中反映“书中自有黄金屋，书中自有颜如玉”的封建仕宦意识和性爱观念。这是苏轼思想上的一种时代局限性。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
