太液仙舟迥，西园引上才。
未晓征车度，鸡鸣关早开。
赐房玄龄鉴赏
此诗的主旨，是颂扬、勉励房玄龄为国求贤。首句从反面落墨，用一“迥”字，表明房玄龄与“大液仙舟”距离甚远，其无暇游乐、无意求仙之意已见于言外。次句从正面着笔，点明他止忙于“引上才”，而“仙舟”之所以“迥”，也由此得到解释。三、四两句，以形象而有象征意味的笔墨写“引上才”的措施及其效果。唐王朝的京城长安四面都有“关”。如果闭关拒才，谁能进来？可是如今呢，天未破晓，不远千里而来的英雄豪杰已经驱车入关，向长安进发。这因为：雄鸡初唱，关门就早已为他们打开；而贤明的宰相，正在“西园”忙于援引他们呢！四句诗，写得兴会淋漓，其求贤望治之意，溢于言表。第四句，可能用了《史记·孟尝君传》函谷关鸡鸣始开的典故，但其中的“关”并不限于函谷关。从泛指的、象征的意义上理解，会从更深的层次上把握全诗的意境美。

唐太宗李世民（599年－649年），唐朝第二位皇帝，在位23年，年号贞观。名字取意“济世安民”，陇西成纪人（今甘肃天水市秦安县）。唐太宗李世民不仅是著名的政治家、军事家，还是一位书法家和诗人。唐太宗开创了著名的贞观之治，被各族人民尊称为天可汗，为后来唐朝全盛时期的开元盛世奠定了重要基础，为后世明君之典范。庙号太宗，谥号文武大圣大广孝皇帝，葬于昭陵。
