泛泛东流水，磷磷水中石。
蘋藻生其涯，华叶纷扰溺。
采之荐宗庙，可以羞嘉客。
岂无园中葵？懿此出深泽。

译文
山涧里溪水顺畅地向东流去，溪水清澈，水中的石头清晰可见。
苹藻这些水草在水边默默地生长，十分茂盛，随着微波轻轻荡漾。
采集它们可以用作宗庙祭祀，可以进献给尊贵的宾客。
难道没有菜园中的冬葵这种珍贵的蔬菜可以用来进献吗？这是因为苹藻来自幽远的水泽，更加美好、可贵。
注释
从（旧读zòng）弟：堂弟。
泛泛：水流貌。
磷磷：形容石头色彩鲜明。
蘋（pín）藻：水草名，古人常采作祭祀之用。
华叶：花与叶。
羞：通“馐”。嘉客：佳客，贵宾。
懿（yì）：美好。

赠从弟·其一鉴赏
这首诗，咏的是“苹藻”。苹藻生于幽涧，“托身于清波”，历来被视为洁物，用于祭、享。此诗咏苹藻，开笔先叙其托身之处的非同凡俗：“泛泛东流水，磷磷水中石。”“泛泛”叙涧水畅流之状，“磷磷”写水中见石之貌。读者眼前，顿时出现了一派幽凉、清澈的涧流。然后才是苹藻的“出场”:“苹藻生其涯，华叶纷扰溺”——在幽涧清流之上，苹藻出落得花叶缤纷，随着微波轻轻荡漾，显得何其清逸、美好！“采之荐宗庙，可以羞（进）嘉客。”这就是人们用作祭享、进献贵宾的佳品呵！这两句写苹藻的美好风姿，用的是映衬笔法。读者可以感觉到，其间正有一股喜悦、赞美之情在汩汩流淌。接着，诗人忽然拄笔而问：“岂无园中葵？”意谓：难道园中的冬葵就不能用吗？回答是深切的赞叹：“懿（美）此出深泽！”但苹藻来自深远的水泽，是更可贵、更能令人赞美的。这两句，用的又是先抑后扬的笔法：前句举“百菜之主”园葵之珍以压苹藻，是为抑；后句赞苹藻之洁更胜园葵，是为扬。于问答、抑扬之中，愈加显得苹藻生于幽泽而高洁脱俗的可贵。以此收束全诗，令人读来余韵袅袅。
