译文
长夜漫漫，四周寂静如水，风很大，驿站的门紧闭。从梦中惊醒，老鼠正偷看着油灯，寒气也透进了被子。睡不着了，门外已传来马的叫声，已有人早起了。
注释
遥夜：长夜。
驿亭：古时候设在官道旁，方便传递公文的使者和来往官员中途休息换马的馆舍。
梦破：睡梦被惊醒。窥：在隐僻处偷看。鼠窥灯：谓饥鼠想偷吃灯盏里的豆油。
侵被：透进被窝。
无寐：睡不着。
如梦令·遥夜沉沉如水创作背景
这是一首抒发谴谪之恨的词。宋绍圣三年丙子（106年），作者自处州再贬，深秋至郴阳道中，他有诗记其事，其中有一首题古寺壁的诗中云：“饥鼠相迫坏壁中”，与此词所写之境颇为近似。又，词人在郴州旅舍有《踏莎行》词，亦与此词心态相似。

如梦令·遥夜沉沉如水鉴赏
远离故乡亲人，置身陌生之处，独宿驿亭之中，其内心不平自不待言。词以“遥夜”开头，即表现出流放之人身虽憩而心未稳，一夜辗转无眠觉得夜色太深、夜程太久的特有感受。“沉沉如水”的比喻，别有深意。时当深秋，水已寒凉，以夜沉如水为喻，透出词人内心的寒凉疲惫之感。接下一句，交待夜里凉意来源：原来的阵阵秋风借着夜色不断袭来，虽然驿亭的门已经紧闭，却仍然挡不住那一阵紧似一阵的寒意。欧阳修有著名的《秋声赋》其状秋声云：“秋之为状也，其色惨淡，烟霏云敛；其容清明，天高日晶；其气凛冽，砭人肌骨；其意萧条，山川寂寥；故其为声也，凄凄切切，呼号愤发。”遭受贬谪，远离故土的作者，对深秋夜风的感受，当然比欧阳修更加敏感，其悲感也必然更加深重。欧阳修在夜读之时，闻声而惊心，继而起赏玩之兴，而作者却对这透骨寒冷的秋风，躲之惟恐不及，将驿亭的门闭了又闭，层层阻障，无非是想少受寒凉，暂时获得心灵的安宁与乎静。这两句写景，看似平实，实际上是字字含情，句句见意，真个是羁愁满纸。
接下两句，写梦醒之后的所见所感。一人在外，当然免不了乡思人梦，而且看来词人还是做了一个好梦，所以从梦中惊醒之后，他觉得那份美好的幻想，被残酷的现实给击破了。回到现实之中的词人所看到的，是如豆的油灯，饥饿的老鼠。“鼠窥灯”的意象，既写环境之静，又写出了环境的寒凉冷清：惯于隐藏在暗处的饥鼠，竟至大胆地窥视起油灯来，可见已经是好久没有任何人声动静了。沉沉如水的夜幕之中，一点如星的灯火，是那么的飘忽不定。以一点暖色调，反衬整个环境的冷色调，冷暖对比，使整个环境更显清冷寒凉，“霜送晓寒侵被”，既可以说是梦破之后的词人，切身所感，也可以说是他看到这样一组景象之后，心生的凉意。
最后一句，写“梦破”直到天明的所感所闻。由于秋寒袭人，加以思绪难平，词人再也睡不着了，两个“无寐”，正是他归梦难成，夜阑无绪，欲眠不能，欲怨无由的心理写照，使人仿佛觉得是词人在万般无奈之时脱口而出的怨语。“门外马嘶人起”，终于，一片人声马嘶，打破了沉沉夜幕，无寐的词人也可以暂时抛开那秋夜的寒意，那紊乱的心绪了。但是，一个白昼之后，不又得回到那沉沉如水的遥夜当中，品味那似乎永远品不完的离愁和凄凉！
词中抒发的是一种悲苦的离情，而词的用韵也起到了很好的烘托作用。“水”、“闭”、“被”、“寐”、“起”等韵脚，都不是响韵而是哑韵。可以想像，这首词演唱时细而低而哑的发声吐字与拍点结合在一起时，所造成的幽咽滞涩之感，会给听众留下什么样的效果。词在当时并非纯粹的案头文学，而是通过演唱传布于大众口耳之间的。所以，一首好词不仅要有优美的意境，鲜明的人物等文学性要求，还应该有表演时声情并茂的要求。
细味全词，词人高明之处在于善用省净的笔墨（共33字），描绘了一个典型环境──古代简陋的驿馆。鼠之扰闹，霜之送寒，风声阵阵，马嘶人起，如耳闻目睹，俱以白描手法出之。毫无缘饰，不用替代，只坦直说出，却别有一番感人的力量。这是由于词人下笔精到，所写驿馆种种景况，无不蕴含着天涯飘泊的旅思况味，婉曲地传出了郁积于心的人生不平──遭谗受害，屡遭贬谪，岁暮飘零如是。白描手法的运用，不仅要求描写之逼真，尤重在情味之活现，使人读之有一目了然之快意，味之而作深长之联想。

秦观（1049-1100）字太虚，又字少游，别号邗沟居士，世称淮海先生。汉族，北宋高邮（今江苏）人，官至太学博士，国史馆编修。秦观一 生坎坷，所写诗词，高古沉重，寄托身世，感人至深。秦观生前行踪所至之处，多有遗迹。如浙江杭州的秦少游祠，丽水的秦少游塑像、淮海先生祠、莺花亭；青田的秦学士祠；湖南郴州三绝碑；广西横县的海棠亭、醉乡亭、淮海堂、淮海书院等。秦观墓在无锡惠山之北粲山上，墓碑上书“秦龙图墓”几个大字。有秦家村、秦家大院以及省级文物保护单位古文游台。
