秋露像细微的雪粒洒下前池，阵阵西风吹过回塘，万竹萧飒生悲。
瓢忽无定的人生啊，本来就多悲欢聚散；但那池上的红荷花，为什么也零落纷披？
我杳远难凭的归梦，只有孤灯才能见证；我空虚落寞的生涯，唯有清酒方可得知。
难道到了白头之年还是如此？我早与嵩山南面的松雪两心相期。
注释
崇让宅：李商隐岳父王茂元在东都洛阳崇让坊的邸宅。
微霰（xiàn）：微细的雪粒。
月：一作“风”。回塘：回曲的水池。
浮世：即浮生，指人间，人世。旧时认为人世间是浮沉聚散不定的，故称。
红蕖：红荷花。蕖，芙蕖。唐李白《越中秋怀》诗：“一为沧波客，十见红蕖秋。”离披：零落分散的样子。
悠扬：起伏不定；飘忽。归梦：归乡之梦。
濩（huò）落：原谓廓落。引申谓沦落失意。
白头：犹白发。形容年老。只尔：只是这样。
嵩阳：嵩山之南。嵩山在河南登封，距离洛阳才百里。松雪：象征隐士的气节和品格。心期：心神交往，两相期许。

七月二十九日崇让宅宴作创作背景
此诗当作于唐武宗会昌元年（841年）。冯浩《玉溪生诗集笺注》、张采田《玉溪生年谱会笺》均定为会昌元年七月作，大致可信。此时诗人仕途受挫，暂住岳父王茂元（时任忠武军节度使、陈许观察使）家，妻子仍在京城长安。

七月二十九日崇让宅宴作鉴赏
亲朋会饮，本为乐事。但此诗所写，却不是冥饮之乐，而是由此引发的诗人的幽恨悲情。
此诗的前半写初秋崇让宅的景象。清池前横，修竹环绕，地方可谓清幽已极。但诗中用“风”、“露”点染，立刻使之带上浓重的悲切气氛。露凝如霰，说明露重天寒。下面接着再用风加重描写。诗人把主观的强烈感情赋予客观事物，所以见得风摇翠竹，飒飒作响，也像在悲泣一般。开头两句，是用环境的凄清，衬托诗人心境的凄楚。下面两句，则是借环境景物，抒发人生的感叹。“浮世”，此处谓世事不定、生命短暂。“聚散”虽兼含两义，重点是在“散”（别离）上。从诗的后半看，这里主要是对妻子而言，同时也兼指筵上之人，因为筵终席散，大家又当别去，它与下联的“灯”、“酒”，关合诗题“宴”字。诗人此前，先是给人作幕僚，以后在朝廷作小官，继而在县里为吏，后来又作幕僚，颠沛流离，东西奔波，常与妻子分离。第三句的感叹，正是诗人坎坷经历的沉痛总结。第四句上承首句的“风”，意谓：“人生固然常多分离，池中的红荷，为什么也被风吹得零落缤纷呢？”不用直叙而用反问，可以加强感叹痛惜的语气；对红荷的痛惜，正是对人生难得团聚的痛惜。这一联“浮世”对“红蕖”，“本来”对“何事”，对仗比较自由，何焯说它是“变体”，纪昀也说“三四对法活似江西派不经意诗”（《李义山诗集辑评》），可以说是李商隐对律诗的一个发展。
上面四句是即景生情，融情入景，下面四句则是直接发抒感慨。第五句上承第三句的“聚散”，写对妻子的深切思念。“悠扬”形容“归梦”的悠长。“归梦”又和“灯”联系起来，意味深长。梦自然使人联想到夜，夜又使人联想到灯。读这句诗，使人仿佛看到一盏孤灯伴着诗人朦胧入梦的景象，幽微的灯光，好像在向人诉说诗人梦中与妻子相会的情景，比起直叙梦中思念来，意境更美，更富诗意。第六句上承第三句的“浮世”，是说因为失意无聊，只好以酒浇愁。句中用一“知”字，使酒带上人情，似乎也在为诗人的坎坷遭遇痛惜不平。两句中“惟”和“独”，都起着一种强调、渲染的作用，表现出诗人的冷落、孤寂之感。失意之悲，别离之痛，郁结在诗人胸中，终于宣泄出来：“难道直到白头都只是这样下去吗？归隐嵩山之南的苍松白雪之中，才是我的夙愿啊！”中岳嵩山，是古代著名的学道隐居之地。“松雪”喻高洁的品性和节操。诗人于无可奈何之中想到归隐山林，这只是仕途坎坷、壮怀未成的幽愤而已。
“情深”（钱良择评语），是此诗的特色。诗人将“比”“兴”这两种手法揉合在一起，用环境景物，烘托渲染自己的思想感情。风露塘竹之悲，触动加深了人之悲切；红荷的离披，也象征着人的别离；客中苦酒，像在悲叹一样；寒夜孤灯，仿佛也在凄惋幽思；即使是嵩山的松雪，好像也在召唤着诗人归去，总之，没有一物不解人意，不含着深情。因情见景，情由景发，情景交融，融为一体，读之撼动人心。

李商隐，字义山，号玉溪（谿）生、樊南生，唐代著名诗人，祖籍河内（今河南省焦作市）沁阳，出生于郑州荥阳。他擅长诗歌写作，骈文文学价值也很高，是晚唐最出色的诗人之一，和杜牧合称“小李杜”，与温庭筠合称为“温李”，因诗文与同时期的段成式、温庭筠风格相近，且三人都在家族里排行第十六，故并称为“三十六体”。其诗构思新奇，风格秾丽，尤其是一些爱情诗和无题诗写得缠绵悱恻，优美动人，广为传诵。但部分诗歌过于隐晦迷离，难于索解，至有“诗家总爱西昆好，独恨无人作郑笺”之说。因处于牛李党争的夹缝之中，一生很不得志。死后葬于家乡沁阳（今河南焦作市沁阳与博爱县交界之处）。作品收录为《李义山诗集》。
