译文
漏壶中的水渐渐滴尽了，星空变得黯然，银河淡淡地横在天上。我从梦中醒来，可因昨夜醉酒，现在尚未完全清醒。邻家公鸡的报晓声阵阵传人耳中，仿佛在催促我们起床，可我们两情缝络，万般不舍，是那样害怕天亮。
我迷惑这一切是真实的还是在梦中，可看看我的臂上，赫然留着她的胭脂和香粉的痕迹，余香袅袅；我的襟袖上尚有几点她滴落的泪痕，才知道这不是虚幻。从窗户望出去，远处的水边有几点灯火闪烁，接着又隐约听到有行人在走动。西边的天际，一钩残月和几颗寥落的晨星在相依相伴，闪着黔淡的光辉。
注释
南歌子：唐教坊曲名，此词有单调双调。此词有版本也题作“赠陶心儿”。
玉漏：即报更滴漏之声。
银潢（huáng）：银河。
梦回：梦醒。 宿酒：隔夜之酒。
妆：指梳妆所施脂粉。“臂上”句：此处指晨起别情。
三星：参星。

南歌子·玉漏迢迢尽创作背景
这是一首赠妓词。此词本事，历代词话多有记载。胡仔《苕溪渔隐从话前集》卷说是秦观在蔡州时，曾眷颐营妓陶心儿，在临别之时，写此词为赠。考秦观行实，他是在宋元祐元年丙寅（1086年）任蔡州教授，至宋元祐五年（1090年）赴京任太学博士，可见此词很有可能就是作于此一时期。

南歌子·玉漏迢迢尽鉴赏
词以夜色深沉开头，绘凄清之景，寓悲伤别情。“迢迢”本指渺远，这里用来形容玉漏，意指夜已很深，时间已久，初看时仿佛是觉得时间太慢，以至有迢递之感，实际上是指二人彻夜未眠，疲困极于夜色将尽之时，仿佛时间凝固，所以有漫长之感，对伤别之人而言·，相聚一刻，即为良宵，断不至有嫌时间过慢之事。“尽”宇紧承“迢迢”之下，见其于夜尽将别之际的失望与痛苦。“银潢”一句，银河横斜，乃天色欲晓时景，以漠远空旷之景，见孤寂无绪之情。这两句写景，实寓深致情怀，虽含而不露，但伤别之意，已在其中，为全词定下了一个感情基凋。
三四句，由室外而室内，由景而人。夜色渐尽，天空渐明，“梦回”二字，并非指沉沉睡梦而言，而是指伤情过度，神志未清，如梦似幻的感觉。这并非欣赏者的妄自猜度，“宿酒未全醒”是对这种状态的很好说明。黎明时分，犹自宿酒未全醒，可见昨夜饮酒过甚。为何如此，虽不言自明：离情别绪，自昨夜即已萦心绕怀，只能借酒浇愁，以至于一夜被酒，处于麻木之中。“已被”句，写不得不起来别离。人虽有情，邻鸡无意，黎明时分的啼鸣，催促着起身出发。虽身被鸡鸣之声催起，却仍然流连不舍，犹豫徘徊，不忍遽然别去。借邻鸡无情，衬己之情深。“怕天明”三字缀于“催起”之后，将词情翻进一层，状别离之际难舍难分之貌。情真意切，十分感人。
过片二句，转换角度，写女子于临别之时情不能己，泪水莹莹。唐元稹《会真记》中描述莺莺与张生幽会，于天明前离去云：“及明，（张生）睹妆在臂，香在衣，泪光荧荧然犹莹于茵席而已。”秦观此处所绘情状，也跟《会真记》相差无几。别情依依，男子尚能借酒浇愁，沉醉忘忧，对于一多情女子而言，其情可怜更无法排遣。沉沉夜色虽然掩去了她的清泪，但天亮后那留在男子臂上襟问的盈盈泪珠、点点粉痕，却是她深情无限的见证。这两句写女子深情，不从正面描述，而借缠绵恩情之后的妆痕泪点，作侧面渲染，紧扣离人来写，既再现了女子的情深，又借此衬出离人的意重，表情婉曲，言简义丰。
最后二句，写别去后的失意伤怀。天未大亮，已然临别，水边灯火的意象，以一点光亮，置于漫漫夜色之中，更见黑暗的巨大无边，在如此凄清的环境之中，别离所爱所恋而踏上无尽征途，其茫然若失，离愁别绪，可想而知。“渐人行”，即渐渐有了行人的意思，结尾一句，乃夜色将褪尽之时，天空中之景，一钩残月，周围映带二三残星，这是一幅精致的画面，本为残月，更兼天色渐明，显然月亮已经失去了光辉，而二三晓空中的残星，更是忽明忽暗，在有无之间，虽然意象明晰，但所造成的气氛，却极为清冷，有凄切之感，正是行人别离之时的心理写照。此句不仅写景极妙，而且历代词沦家还往往认为那“一钩残月带三星”，正是描绘“心”字的形状，并因而与秦观所眷之营妓陶心儿的名字相联系，有双关之巧，写景之美，可谓领悟神髓，恰到好处。

秦观（1049-1100）字太虚，又字少游，别号邗沟居士，世称淮海先生。汉族，北宋高邮（今江苏）人，官至太学博士，国史馆编修。秦观一 生坎坷，所写诗词，高古沉重，寄托身世，感人至深。秦观生前行踪所至之处，多有遗迹。如浙江杭州的秦少游祠，丽水的秦少游塑像、淮海先生祠、莺花亭；青田的秦学士祠；湖南郴州三绝碑；广西横县的海棠亭、醉乡亭、淮海堂、淮海书院等。秦观墓在无锡惠山之北粲山上，墓碑上书“秦龙图墓”几个大字。有秦家村、秦家大院以及省级文物保护单位古文游台。
