译文
皓月当空，月轮的万顷光波，扫射整个宇宙，世界一片澄明透彻。醉后跨上玉龙遨游太空，遨游八极。
当仙女们在凉爽的水晶宫殿里轻歌曼舞的时候，人世间却正经历炙热酷暑之苦。还需化费多少风露，才能驱散炎暑，换得人间的清凉呢？
注释
清平乐：词牌名。
八极：指宇宙间最邈远的地方。
清平乐·纤云扫迹鉴赏
首二句描写十五月圆之夜的天光月色：皓月当空，月轮的万顷光波，扫射整个宇宙，世界一片澄明透彻。这境界多么美丽而又神奇！三、四句想象醉后跨上玉龙遨游太空的幻景。气概豪迈，感情奔放。而刘克庄这句出新之处在于一是“醉跨”二字生动形象，将酒后狂放不羁的神态活画了出来;二是“玉龙”色彩鲜明。玉色洁白润泽，用来修饰“龙”字，与本词前二句所描绘的光明世界配合起来，不仅色调谐和，而且给全词增添了神话色彩。“八极”指宇宙间最邈远的地方。“历历天青海碧”写遨游八极所见景象。这时作者精神上已超越尘世，来到广漠无垠的天极，茫茫寰宇，湛湛青天，沉沉碧海，历历在目。
过片由太空进入月宫：“水晶宫殿飘香，群仙方按霓裳。”仙手飘飘，仙女们按节而舞，不禁让人心驰神荡。最后二句由天上想到人间，对比之中似寓感慨。
酷暑难熬，当仙女们在凉爽的水晶宫殿里轻歌曼舞的时候，人世间却正经历炙热酷暑之苦，所以作者设问说：还需化费多少风露，才能驱散炎暑，换得人间的清凉呢？联系南宋后期统治者偏安江左，沉湎声色，置人民于水深火热而不顾的社会现实，表现出词人忧国忧民的情怀。刘克庄素有拯世济民之志，其寄希望于人间的，当不只是自然界季节的代序，而应该是一个理想的清平世界的出现。
这首词虽是“玩月”，但全篇无一月字，读来却觉满卷月华，天上人间，心摇神荡，足可见词人运思的匠心。
