伤春创作背景
苏轼、黄庭坚的诗歌将宋诗的发展推向了高峰，体现了一代特色。但以黄庭坚等人为首的“江西派”提倡的“点铁成金”、“夺胎换骨”的作诗主张却忽略了诗人的思想感情和对生活的观察、体验和积累。在这样的历史背景下，杨万里为“诚斋体”诗歌作为对江西派的一种修正，是有其积极意义的。而这首诗便是“诚斋体”的典型作品。

伤春鉴赏
这首《伤春》诗写的是诗人在日常生活中的感受。首句写诗人做的一个决定：对今春乐事早已安排好；次句用一个转折，推翻了之前的决定，也就辜负了好意送来春色的东风。第三句点明，不仅今年先做决定再推翻，而且年年如此；第四句指出年年辜负春光的原因。
春日可乐，而自己却非愁即病，年年都辜负了大好春光，这种主观与客观的矛盾对立使诗人禁不住感慨万端，发出一种无可奈何的叹息。读罢此诗，诗人愁病交加的面容、苦笑的表情和自嘲的意味，给人留下了难忘的印象。不假雕饰，自然浑成，而诗意诗味即在其中，这正是“诚斋体”的成功之处。
杨万里在《荆溪集自序》中谈到自己写诗时，曾说：“步后园，登古城，采撷祀菊，攀翻花竹，万象毕来，献余诗材。盖麾之不去，前或未应，而后者己迫。”在他看来，平日所见所闻及所感似乎无不可以成为诗歌创作的材料，这和江西派“闭门觅句”，讲究“无一字无来处”，“虽只字半句不轻出”的苦吟自然是大不相同的了。但“诚斋体”也有其弊病：由于写作比较“随便”，有些诗艺术概括不够，境界不高，社会意义也不大。此首可以说是个典型。
