译文
赤手空拳，难酬报国雄心；遇见朋友，只能流流眼泪。
日思夜想，一心恢复中国；弱肉强食，古今不免同慨。
天颜不远，还能盼望得见；苍苍者天，可能预见未来？
朝朝暮暮向南膜拜祷告，但愿重见大宋旌旗回来。
注释
空泪垂：白白地落泪。
下泉诗：《诗经·曹风》中的一篇。《下泉》一诗描写了曹国诸侯共公时政治混乱，政令苛刻，人民痛苦不堪，因此渴望有一个圣明的君主来治理国家。这里借用了原作的诗意，表达了作者自己希望有个贤明的君主，能顺应人民的意志，收复失地，统一全国，把国家治理好。
日：代指皇帝。

郑思肖（1241～1318）宋末诗人、画家，连江（今属福建）人。原名不详，宋亡后改名思肖，因肖是宋朝国姓赵的组成部分。字忆翁，表示不忘故国；号所南，日常坐卧，要向南背北。亦自称菊山后人、景定诗人、三外野人、三外老夫等。曾以太学上舍生应博学鸿词试。元军南侵时，曾向朝廷献抵御之策，未被采纳。后客居吴下，寄食报国寺。郑思肖擅长作墨兰，花叶萧疏而不画根土，意寓宋土地已被掠夺。有诗集《心史》、《郑所南先生文集》、《所南翁一百二十图诗集》等。
