译文
失意漂泊，正是三月春尽时，看花遣闷，漫步去东家。
谁来作一首送春的歌曲？让我把洛水岸边铜驼之悲写一下。
桥南边尽是骑马游乐的人，北山上有很多古人的坟园。
游客畅饮着杯中的美酒，铜驼却悲叹千年来的变迁。
生活在世上不必为名利徒然操劳，人生短暂就像风吹盘上蜡烛。
铜驼无心欣赏盛开的桃花，夜里它在为人世短促而啼哭。
注释
铜驼：据陆机《洛阳记》载：“铜驼街有汉铸铜驼二枚，在宫之南四会道。头高九尺，头似羊，颈似马，有肉鞍。夹道相对。”王琪注引俗语云：“金马门外聚群贤，铜驼陌上集少年。”曰：“言人物之盛也。”
落魄：失意的样子。《汉书·郦食其传》：“郦食其家贫，落魄无衣食。”应劭注曰：“落魄，志行衰恶貌。”颜师古注曰：“落魄，失业无次也。”
寻花：出游观花。东家：东面邻家。
洛岸：洛水岸边。
桥南：游乐的地方。马客：骑马游乐的人。
北山：北邙山，在今河南洛阳市。汉魏以来，王孙贵族的墓葬地多在于此。后来指墓地。
“风吹”句：比喻人生短暂、无常。
笑：指花开。

铜驼悲创作背景
钱仲联认为此诗作于元和四年（809），其时诗人考进士受阻，返乡过洛阳，为宽慰失意的愁苦，写下了这首诗。

铜驼悲鉴赏
这首五言古诗共一十二句，四句一段，可分三段。诗中，藉个人升沉，体察世态炎凉，且以感物感时为体己的诗人李贺，特别以“铜驼悲”为塑造、为象征，来咏人物之衰、盛世盛时不在，以为世人处世处事之警策也。
诗中第一段四句所记，乃诗人以落魄者的身份与心情即为悲剧主角亦为精神主观，一方面企图藉赴洛阳牡丹花会赏花送春以为伤痛不平之聊慰，另一方面再藉“悲铜驼”为感时思物，并拟人体己作《铜驼悲》以为郁闷心情之排遣，合而旨在可藉相应符号个涵历史意蕴地形象展示来收达观人生、达观自然、达观历史、超越自我之效也。姚文燮注曰：“落魄寻花，无聊情绪，作曲送春，时去不复，致来铜驼之悲也。”是说不免有曲解诗人所怀的“悲剧情结”，及其相应的“感伤主义”，在艺术审美上所深层具有积极性的精神本质，其实绝不可能出于“无聊心情”之嫌。或者换言之，诗人届时所以特别能以汉铸铜驼为艺术观照与塑造对象，但藉“悲铜驼”再作《铜驼悲》，好拿自己的主观精神来把本来无生命、无感情、无精神的古物铜驼，当做时代更迭之鉴证，一并拟人赋予它之形象与符号以相应的意义。
诗中第二段四句，诗人禀其独有的人生苦短之感与历史苍凉之慨，先拿桥南紫陌骅骝骄骋繁华之地，与北邙前贤亡灵归葬陵墓蒿荒之地为对照，复拿四会道街之畔贵客正豪饮高会，与所立铜驼因阅历已多而不胜变迁之感为景致观照，以作承转，共同来射人生生与死之短暂，并射历史繁荣与衰败之轮回，好发人为之深思深醒也。
诗中第三段四句，合而来说人生在世，生命的脆弱无助，命运的多踹多难，诚然一如烛光临风，随时有可能或因灯油熬尽而自行熄灭，或因风而被猛然吹灭，但是人生自我设计、自我奋斗、自我实现的要义，却总是应在要以“生世莫徒劳”为志向，但为认识真理与坚持真理，一并引坚韧不拔、百折不回的道德修养为不离。离此者，必不能真正体验个涵在“厌见桃株笑，铜驼夜来哭”这一不失“悲观主义”精神色彩之诗句中，自被大理想、大失望、大破灭、大悲哀、大寂寞所嚼烂了的诗心，及其悲剧人生的积极精神意义。

李贺（约公元791年-约817年），字长吉，汉族，唐代河南福昌（今河南洛阳宜阳县）人，家居福昌昌谷，后世称李昌谷，是唐宗室郑王李亮后裔。有“诗鬼”之称，是与“诗圣”杜甫、“诗仙”李白、“诗佛”王维相齐名的唐代著名诗人。著有《昌谷集》。李贺是中唐的浪漫主义诗人，与李白、李商隐称为唐代三李。有“‘太白仙才，长吉鬼才’之说。李贺是继屈原、李白之后，中国文学史上又一位颇享盛誉的浪漫主义诗人。李贺长期的抑郁感伤，焦思苦吟的生活方式，元和八年（813年）因病辞去奉礼郎回昌谷，27岁英年早逝。
