译文
一叶落木，可识岁秋，一瓶水结冰，即知天寒。
桂枝一日一日绽绿，枝条高拂凌云端。
少年壮心豪迈，矫翼欲攀鸿雁，青云直上。
我俩交往有三十年了吧，荣辱一体，悲喜同欢。
望青云而长吁，相坐看镊白发。
铜镜里已是衰老的秋颜，曾经黑油油的壮发凋落在高冠之下。
穷困时和管仲一样与鲍生一起做生意，饥饿时从漂母处乞讨她一餐饭。
时来云转之时位极天人，胸中有道，何需吟叹不已？
我就像乐毅刚刚到赵国，苏秦刚刚去游说韩国一样。
卷舒自如固然在我自己，为什么时光要摧残我的青春？
注释
木落识岁秋，瓶冰知天寒：《淮南子·说山》言“见一叶落而知岁之将暮，睹瓶中之冰而知天下之寒。”首二句由此变化而成，其意谓已有先见之明。
桂枝：喻人才之秀出者。上句喻丹丘德才之美，下句喻丹丘即将入朝。
弱龄，即少年。二句谓己：少年时即与丹丘相交，如凡禽之攀鸿鸾。
投分，即缔交。荣枯，偏义复词，此处偏用荣义。二句意谓：相交有年，欲与共荣。
镊白，即镊白发。
鲍生，即鲍叔牙。
时，指风云感会之时。极天人，此谓显贵之入。道，此指己之素志。岂吟叹，不用感伤。二句自我慰勉之辞。
乐毅，战国时燕将；苏秦，战国时策士。方适赵、初说韩，皆言功业虽未有成，而用世之心方盛。
卷舒，犹言或进或退，或仕或隐，固在我本人意愿如何，何必空自摧残二句亦自我慰勉之辞。

此诗作于天宝九载。炼药院，郁贤皓《李白丛考》疑在石门山（今河南叶县西南）。元林宗，即元丹丘，李白好友。李白写此诗时已五十岁，岁月蹉跎，功业无成，但仍对未来充满了希望。

秋日炼药院镊白发赠元六兄林宗鉴赏
“木落识岁秋，瓶冰知天寒”，意指已有先见之明。“桂枝日已绿，拂雪凌云端”，”弱龄接光景，矫翼攀鸿鸾”意指万事俱备，只欠东风，即可报效祖国，施展才华。前四句主要是写诗人借描绘“木落”“瓶冰”“桂枝”“拂雪”等景物来表达自己雄大的智略，以及坦荡无畏惧的气魄，想报效祖国，干一番事业。
意指李白与元丹丘相识很早，他二十多岁在四川家乡的时候，就与元丹丘相识。李白五十多岁时有一首诗《秋日炼药院镊白发赠元六兄林宗》，诗中说“投分三十载，荣枯同所欢。”说明在三十多年的时间里，他们一直都是非常亲密要好的朋友。李白与元丹丘曾一起漫游四川、湖北安陆、襄阳、河南嵩山、石门山，从李白与元丹丘来往的书信诗文内容来看，这位元丹丘显然是一位隐居山林游仙的职业道士。
“长吁望青云，镊白坐相看”，”秋颜入晓镜，壮发凋危冠”，吁叹岁月不饶人，人已渐渐年老，蕴念有不堪蹉跎之意。
“穷与鲍生贾，饥从漂母餐”，李白用此诗形容自己与元丹丘之间的交情犹如管鲍之交，由于此时李白的境遇有类管仲微贱之时，故在这首诗中有“穷与鲍生贾”之语。
“时来极天人，道在岂吟叹”，有感叹自身怀才不遇、仕途不通的悲壮情感。虽有自我慰勉之意，但仍对未来仕途充满着希望。
“乐毅方适赵，苏秦初说韩”，借用典故，诉说功业虽然还没有成功，但报效国家施展才华的雄心犹在。
“卷舒固在我，何事空摧残”，面对现实的残酷，有自我慰勉之意。
此诗意寓出诗人既有热血满腔的爱国豪情又有壮志未酬的苦闷。虽然岁月蹉跎，功业无成，加上仕途颠簸、官运不济，胸有大志而不受皇帝重用，但是诗人仍对未来充满了信心和希望。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
