译文
仙曲自夜至晓鸣奏着，在祈祷神仙降临。宫殿四周五色旗飘扬，宫殿笼罩在吉祥的云雾之中。无数的烛光如同天上的繁星，灿烂辉煌，燃着的百和香冒着一缕缕苍郁的烟丝，分外幽香。
宫殿内铺着芳香的丝绸地毯，敬请的神仙终于降临了。天子屏息静气听着神仙对他传授仙家秘诀。再无须用灵龟去占卜了，从此以后王朝的命运将与天地一样长久。
注释
玉楼春：词牌名，又名《惜春容》、《归朝欢令》、《西湖曲》等，《尊前集》注“大石调”，又“双调”。《乐章集》注“大石调”，又“林钟商调”。双调五十六字，上下片各四句、三仄韵。
昭华：古代管乐器名,此指音乐声。醮（jiào）：祈祷神灵的祭礼，后专指道士、和尚为禳除灾祸所设的道场。清曙：清晨。
霓旌（jīng）：缀有五色羽毛的旗帜，为古代帝王仪仗之一。瑞雾：指祥瑞之气。
九枝：一干九枝的烛灯。亦泛指一干多枝的灯。卢照邻《十五夜观灯》：“别有千金笑，来映九枝前。”擎（qíng）：举。
百和焚香：即“焚百和香”。百和，由各种香料和成的香。抽翠缕：冒出缕缕青色的烟雾。
香罗：纱罗的美称。荐：垫，铺。延：请。真驭：真君的御驾。
万乘：周代制度规定，天子地方千里，能出兵车万乘，因以“万乘”指天子、帝王。旒（liú）：古代皇帝礼帽前后的玉串。
卜年：以占卜预测国家统治的年数。考灵龟：考察龟甲的裂纹来预测吉凶。
乾坤：本为《周易》中的两个卦名，指阴阳两种对立的势力。阳者为乾，乾之卦象为天；阴者为坤，坤之卦象为地。引申为天地、日月的代称。历数：历法。

玉楼春·昭华夜醮连清曙创作背景
关于此词的创作年份有两说：第一说，据吴熊和考证，此词作于大中祥符五年（1012年），写宋真宗于延恩殿设道场祭祀圣祖赵玄朗事。第二说，据薛瑞生考证，此词明写汉武帝，实写宋真宗，此词应作于大中祥符元年（1008年）。

玉楼春·昭华夜醮连清曙鉴赏
若依吴熊和考证，那么这首《玉楼春》乃是谀圣词。
北宋真宗时期，对辽作战失利，为掩饰澶渊之盟的耻辱，宋真宗编造了“天书”降世的谎言。大中祥符五年，宋真宗称“圣祖”赵玄朗将于十月二十四日“降圣”延恩殿。是日，宫中通宵夜醮，真宗亲临道场，迎候圣祖，并恭听了真君的秘训。
词的上片铺写夜醮场面，结构紧凑，气氛热烈。“昭华夜醮连清曙”，仙乐自夜达晓鸣奏着。“金殿霓旌笼瑞雾”，宫殿里飘扬着各色旗帜。“九枝擎烛灿繁星”，晚上燃起蜡烛，烛光灿烂如繁星，极言场面之大。“百和焚香抽翠缕”，百和香抽出一缕缕的青烟。
下片写真宗亲临道场。“香罗荐地延真驭”写道场的奢华场景，“香罗”铺地，以待真君驾临。“万乘凝旒听秘语”写天子恭听真君秘训，其中“凝旒”这个词用得极好，写出了真宗的严肃恭敬。“卜年无用考灵龟”两句祝颂国祚与天地共长久，乃谀圣词必不可少的套话。
“天书”事件后，向真宗争奏祥瑞，竞献赞颂者络绎不绝，这也造成了北宋科举史上的特例，那就是在正常的礼部考试外另辟因献颂而赐第的“蹊径”。据李焘《续资治通鉴长编》载，前后至少举行过四次。柳永科场失意始于真宗朝，在急于仕进而又屡遭黜落的情况下，进献《玉楼春》这类谀圣词的目的也就不言自明了。若依薛瑞生考证，则这首《玉楼春》是首讽刺词，其词明写汉武帝，实则暗讽宋真宗。
也许是反讽之意太过明显，故词中多用《汉武帝内传》中的典故。“九枝擎烛灿繁星”二句出自《汉武帝内传》：“燔百和香，燃九微灯，以待西王母”；“香罗荐地延真驭”一句出自《汉武帝内传》：“以紫罗荐地”；“万乘凝旒听秘语”一句出自《汉武帝内传》：“帝乃盛服，立于陛下，敕端门之内，不得有妄窥者。内外寂谧，以候云驾”。
柳永在真宗与章献刘皇后执政的三十二年屡试不中，到了仁宗执政之初即一试二中，这其中原由可能与柳永对真宗佞道多有微辞有关。其时柳永方二十余岁，年轻气盛，又尚未出仕，无进退之忧，就如这首《玉楼春》，对真宗佞道之腹诽见之于文字间。

柳永，（约987年—约1053年）北宋著名词人，婉约派代表人物。汉族，崇安（今福建武夷山）人，原名三变，字景庄，后改名永，字耆卿，排行第七，又称柳七。宋仁宗朝进士，官至屯田员外郎，故世称柳屯田。他自称“奉旨填词柳三变”，以毕生精力作词，并以“白衣卿相”自诩。其词多描绘城市风光和歌妓生活，尤长于抒写羁旅行役之情，创作慢词独多。铺叙刻画，情景交融，语言通俗，音律谐婉，在当时流传极其广泛，人称“凡有井水饮处，皆能歌柳词”，婉约派最具代表性的人物之一，对宋词的发展有重大影响，代表作 《雨霖铃》《八声甘州》。
