云罕才临御水桥，天衣已入香山会。

层峦旧长千寻木，远壑初飞百丈泉，
彩仗蜺旌绕香阁，下辇登高望河洛。
东城宫阙拟昭回，南阳沟塍殊绮错。
林下天香七宝台，山中春酒万年杯。
微风一起祥花落，仙乐初鸣瑞鸟来。
鸟来花落纷无已，称觞献寿烟霞里。
歌舞淹留景欲斜，石关犹驻五云车。
鸟旗翼翼留芳草，龙骑駸駸映晚花。
千乘万骑銮舆出，水静山空严警跸。
郊外喧喧引看人，倾都南望属车尘。
嚣声引飏闻黄道，佳气周回入紫宸。
先王定鼎山河固，宝命乘周万物新。
吾皇不事瑶池乐，时雨来观农扈春。
龙门应制鉴赏
这是一首应制的七言歌行，记述武后访问龙门之事。史载：武后游龙门，命群官赋诗，先成者赐以锦袍。左史东方虬诗成，拜赐坐未安；之问诗后成，文理兼美，左右莫不称善，乃就夺锦袍衣之。
此诗的几个词语需要解释。“黄道”是太阳的轨道，因此也就是帝王之道。“鼎”是王朝正统的象征。“瑶池”是周穆王与西王母欢宴的地方，这里暗示过度奢侈或纵欲的要求。
宋之问赞美武后的出游，用了许多较早的京城歌行的技巧，但他将夸张的描写诗句连接成近于叙述的形式，显得更加复杂。七世纪七十年代的京城诗人从京城赋中借来结构，以某种讽喻或否定的反应修饰他们对声色之美的赞扬。这种结尾在这里是不合适的，甚至是危险的。可是，诗人仍然需要以某种道德评论结束诗篇，所以宋之问在结尾赞美了武周政权的正统性及道德力量。
这首诗不时出现宫廷宴会诗的惯例。最先出现的两句七言诗（第五、六句）不对偶，但是随着诗人开始描写风景，各联诗就完美地相配了。诗人也未放弃宴会结束的长段描写，落日和淹留的快乐都写得与宴会诗一样得体。这种华美的描写风格一定曾经具有极大的吸引力，当杜甫在安禄山叛乱后，回忆唐朝失去的繁盛时，常常哀伤地模仿这种宫廷描写风格。
