唐怀州河内县董行成能策贼。有一人从河阳长店,盗行人驴一头并皮袋。天欲晓,至怀州。行成至街中,见之，叱曰：“个贼住！即下驴来！”遂承伏。人问何以知之。行成曰：“此驴行急而汗，非长行也；见人则引缰远过，怯也；以此知之。”捉送县，有顷，驴主寻踪至，皆如其言。

译文
唐朝怀州河内县，有个叫董行成的人，能一眼就分辨出对方是否贼匪。 有一名贼人在河阳长店偷得路人一头驴和皮袋，在天快破晓时赶到怀州境内，正巧碰到董行成迎面而来。董行成一见他就大声喝道：“你这贼子给我站住！立即从驴上下来！” 那人一听立即下驴认罪。 事后有人问董行成如何看出那人是贼，董行成说：“这头驴因长途急行而流汗，不是走了很长的路；而是这人见了路人也会引驴绕路，这一定是因他心虚；所以我判定他一定是贼。” 董行成将盗贼送到县衙，不一会儿，驴的主人寻着踪迹找来了，实际情况和董行成说的一模一样。
