译文
眼前的花怎么能够接上连理枝，要打开紧皱的鼎上锁须得重新配钥匙。描几笔字画勾销伤在的心事。心里像闷葫芦不明白怎么会断了线，为什么好好一对佳偶却另配了雄雌？他就像野蜂一般难以寻觅，我却像蝎虎一般活活被坑害死，从今后像蚕蛹般断了相思。
注释
“水仙子”又称为《湘妃怨》、《冯夷曲》、《凌波曲》、《凌波仙》等。入【双调】，亦入【中吕】、【南吕】。首二句宜对。六、七句可作五字，宜对；亦可作两个四字句，与末句相配。兼作小令、套曲。也可带《折桂令》为带过曲。南曲略同。
连枝：连理枝。
眉上锁：喻双眉紧皱如锁难开。钥匙（yào shí）：开锁用的东西。
描笔：画笔。勾销：消除，这里指忘掉。
闷葫芦：俗语，指不说话，亦指纳闷。铰断了线儿，这里指断绝了联系。
野蜂儿：指像野蜂一样的男人。
蝎虎：即壁虎，又名守宫。传说用珠砂喂养壁虎，使其全身赤红，然后捣烂，涂在女子身上，如不与男人交合，则终身不灭。古代用以表示守贞。见张华《博物志》。干害死：白白地被坑害死。

乔吉在维扬贾侯席上见到一个亭亭玉立的人儿李楚仪，从此两人卿卿我我，坠入爱河，谁知好事多磨，贾侯确夺其所欢，要把楚仪带到扬州去，而楚仪也像李亚仙、苏小卿似的，为金钱所屈服。该词为李楚仪离开乔吉后所作。

小令题为“怨风情”，很明显是描写一位闺中女子对爱情的埋怨和绝望，其中交杂着忧愁、猜忌、悲伤、怨恨等多种复杂情愫。在这支小令中，乔吉运用了一系列的双关和比喻的手法来衬托主人公心中对爱情的失望。这首小令生动地展现了一个女子失恋后剪不断、理还乱的内心世界，其中纠结着相思忧愁、困惑疑猜、怨愤绝望等复杂的情感，令人倍感伤情。
当往事渐渐成为往事，熟悉的渐渐变得不那么熟悉，回忆却像一条蛇还停留在曾经的故事里，女主人公虽然不能忘情，但她面对现实，必须努力走出失恋的阴影，从而减轻因失恋带来的梦魇式的痛苦、相思的煎熬和忧愁的折磨。因此，小令起首用一鼎足对将这种复杂的心境展露无遗。这里的“眼中花”并非真花，而是自己的心上人，“怎得”表明白己与意中人的爱情山穷水尽，很难结合在一起。为此，她忧心忡忡，双眉紧蹙，仿佛被一把锁紧紧困住。她不能就此自怨自艾终其一生，必须找到打开眉上锁（亦即心锁）的那把钥匙。“描笔儿勾销了伤春事”，可见，描几笔字画无疑是她情感释放的最佳方式，于是，她在抑郁之中，提笔写下断肠诗，她希望那些失恋的相思、怨愤和痛苦能找到一个隐秘的突破口发泄出来，那些青春爱情的烦恼、令人感伤的琐碎情节和心灵的痛苦能就此一笔勾销。可是，蓬山已远，锦书难托，纵然写好情书又不知寄往何处。
“闷葫芦铰断线儿”，心上人没有说什么，就无缘无故中断了联系。她在心里反复掂量这件事，种种可能的原因被一一提起，又一一被否决，最终，像闷葫芦一样，她找不到发生变故的原因所在，也不知道怎样才能找到他。“锦鸳鸯别对了个雄雌”，困惑之余，她猜测心上人很可能是看上了别的女子，另觅新欢了。
最后三句，写出了她的怨恨和绝望。她没料到，自己的心上人和其他轻浮薄幸的男子一样，不把感情当回事，像野蜂一样，到处寻花问柳，踪迹难寻。这个痴情的女子在刹那间彻悟了男人的劣根性，恨自己为什么那么痴傻，何苦要为这样滥情不专的臭男人坚守贞操，白白地害相思。她的心底升腾起一种愤激的情感，她要自己坚强起来，要像蚕蛹一般停止吐丝，把曾经的心上人从心里摈弃，从而决绝地告别过去，活出一个真正的自己。最后三句看起来具有“俚曲”特点，从正、反、侧三个方面，又多用衬字，描写出了自己的失意。
这首小令大量采用俗语口语人曲，摈除典故和藻采，一以本色出之，使这位女子声口毕肖，生动传神，尤能展现元代散曲质朴通俗的特点。曲中每句皆用比喻，形象得体，语言活泼俏皮，清爽洒脱，风格迥别于赋体小令和清丽之曲，值得品味。

乔吉(1280?～1345) 元代杂剧家、散曲作家。一称乔吉甫，字梦符，号笙鹤翁，又号惺惺道人。太原人，流寓杭州。钟嗣成在《录鬼簿》中说他“美姿容，善词章，以威严自饬，人敬畏之”，又作吊词云：“平生湖海少知音，几曲宫商大用心。百年光景还争甚？空赢得，雪鬓侵，跨仙禽，路绕云深。”从中大略可见他的为人。剧作存目十一，有《杜牧之诗酒扬州梦》、《李太白匹配金钱记》、《玉箫女两世姻缘》三种传世。
