园花笑在美好的年岁，春光里池草更觉鲜艳。
还不如篱边的木槿花，在玉阶旁姿态如婵娟。
花香草茂生命太短促，花草凋落只在霎那间。
哪里像美丽的玉树枝，一年到头都光彩灿烂。
注释
园花：泛指园中百花。
芳年：美好的年岁。亦指少年青春，意即为各自的芳年而笑。唐卢照邻《长安古意》诗：“借问吹箫向紫烟，曾经学舞度芳年。”
艳春色：献艳于春色之中。
婵娟：形容姿容美好的样子。
芬荣：芳香、繁茂。
夭促：死亡得很快，此喻花落之迅疾也。
瞬息：一眨眼一呼吸，形容极短的时间。
岂若：哪里象。
琼树枝：指名贵花木；玉树之枝。
终岁：即终年，全年，一年。
翕（xī）赩（xì）：光色盛貌。翕：收敛，聚合。赩：大红色。

咏槿鉴赏
“园花笑芳年，池草艳春色”运用铺叙手法描绘出一幅笑芳年的园花与艳春色的池草的景致。诗中“园花笑”“池草艳”来烘托出园花、池草本来也是美好之物，也不缺朝气蓬勃、欣欣向荣的生命力。

“犹不如槿花，婵娟玉阶侧”写满园花草在李白眼中，都不如木槿，排斥了“园花”、“池草”。李白再运用拟人手法，把槿花喻意为“蝉娟”般美好的容颜，如婵娟般亭亭而立的槿花将笑芳年的园花与艳春色的池草统统的比下去了，从而使得诗句文采特异、铺陈辞藻，可见奔放不羁的李白对木槿花情有独钟，怜香惜玉也是因花而异。
“芬荣何夭促，零落在瞬息”描绘出一幅园花易零落、池草易萎糜的伤感景致。诗中“夭促”“零落”暗寓出诗人或许多少有点遗憾，美丽总是太仓促，常在瞬间零落，爱花的人是挽留不住落花匆匆的脚步的。其中也不无隐喻满园花草生命之短暂的意味，于是，流露出一种感花伤怀的情绪。
“岂若琼树枝，终岁长翕赩”侧面槿花的朝开暮落只是表面现象，它“终岁”“翕赩”正表明了槿花顽强的生命力和坚韧不屈的品格。正如东方朔在写给公孙弘借用马车的信中说“木槿夕死朝荣，士亦不长贫也。”诗人用“岂如琼树枝，终岁长翕赩”两句诗对木槿花予以高度评价，热情地赞颂，从而完成了对木槿花形象的塑造。
诗人开始并不直接写木槿花，而是以“园花”、“池草”起兴，指出它们一个“笑芳年”，一个“艳春色”都曾盛极一时，但它们最大的弱点是生命太短促。也就是说尽管园花姹紫嫣红，芬芳馥郁，但是花开自有花落时，当它零落在东风里时，它就会黯然失色，再也无复青春的色彩。同样，小草尽管它萎萋无数，枝叶碧翠柔嫩，有“野火烧不尽，春风吹又生”的脾性。但是，当严霜降落之时，它就会在瞬息间，萎糜以至朽腐，留给大地以不尽的思索。这就是园花和池草生命的全部意义。接着诗人在否定“园花”和“池草”的基础之上，对木槿花予以讴歌的赞美。
从该诗诗句排列顺序的颠倒上，可以知道诗人思绪的奔涌，情感的炽烈，特别是思绪、情感的跳荡性，毫无疑问，这一切都根植于诗人的浪漫气息。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
