偏触动、词人系念。
昨日微阴今日雨，好春光有限无馀欠。

冰绡雾縠谁烘染？爱依依、柔条照水，靓妆清艳。
墙角绿阴栏外影，印上芸窗冰簟。
隔一片、清阴暗澹。
不是封姨情太薄，是盈盈树底魂难忏。
春欲暮，易生感。
金缕曲·咏白海棠鉴赏
上片开首，作者采用用对比的手法说：描写那白海棠的可爱，说它素洁的淡妆，是不以浓妆艳抹为美的。此处特点是词人用了拟人化的口吻，同时这里也映射、批评了世俗的审美。随即词人又赞美白海棠“认取朦胧明月下，不许东风偷飐”。说它不欲白日中在东风拨动下搔首弄姿，招惹狂蜂浪蝶。在朦胧明月下，尤其展示了它的美。桃李无言，下自成蹊，它“偏触动、词人系念”。词中对白海棠的赞美，表现了词人与世俗的审美倾向的不同。词人又感叹如观赏到白海棠的开放一样，“好春光”是不多的。而“昨日微阴今日雨”，是词人希望天公能够为自己多留一些明媚的时光，哪怕是仅如片刻的“一时暂”，这是词人对春的留恋。
下片，词境又进一步扩展，而以“冰绡雾縠”句为过渡。这里词人用丝绸织品的美丽，来比喻白海棠开放时的美丽春光，衬托白海棠。问“谁烘染”，实际是用疑问来赞叹花被烘染得更美。这春光如一副画一般。下面就是这画面的描述：“爱依依、柔条照水，靓妆清艳。”水边的柳条，依依映照，一片光彩美丽。还有“墙角绿阴栏外影”，这影子照射在芸窗上，照射到床席上。中间，还有被什么隔开的一片“清阴暗澹”，等等。这里词人解答了自己过片所提出的“谁烘染”的疑问。词人对于“烘染”着白海棠的一片春花，作了尽情的渲染。当然，这些都是词人审美欣赏的表现。作为同时也擅长绘画的词人，在整首作品中，也表现着词中有画的特点。最后，词人又未免感伤地说：白海棠开在晚春，这时，树木已盈盈茂盛，花魂却难以挽留了，而不能怪是封姨鼓风，吹折了它。对于词主人公来说，也触景生情，故发出了“春欲暮，易生感”的喟叹。

顾太清（1799-1876），名春，字梅仙。原姓西林觉罗氏，满洲镶蓝旗人。嫁为贝勒奕绘的侧福晋。她为现代文学界公认为“清代第一女词人”。晚年以道号“云槎外史”之名著作小说《红楼梦影》，成为中国小说史上第一位女性小说家。其文采见识，非同凡响，因而八旗论词，有“男中成容若（纳兰性德），女中太清春（顾太清）”之语[1] 。顾太清不仅才华绝世，而且生得清秀，身量适中，温婉贤淑。令奕绘钟情十分。虽为侧福晋一生却诞育了四子三女，其中几位儿子都有很大作为。
