金华郡守张佐治至一处，见蛙无数，夹道鸣噪，皆昂首若有诉。佐治异之，下车步视，而蛙皆蹦跳为前导。至田间，三尸叠焉。公有力，手挈二尸起，其下一尸微动，以汤灌之，未几复苏。曰：“我商也，道见二人肩两筐适市，皆蛙也。哀之，购以放生。二人复曰：‘此皆浅水，虽放，后必为人所获；前有清渊，乃放生池也。’吾从之至此，不意挥斧，遂被害。二仆随后不远，腰缠百金，必为二人诱至此，并杀而夺金也。”张佐治至郡，急令捕之，不日人金俱获。一迅即吐实，罪死。所夺之金归商。

译文
金华县的长官张佐治到一个地方，看见有许多青蛙在道路旁鸣叫，都昂着头，好像有冤要说似的。张佐治对这事感到很奇怪，便下车步行，青蛙见他下了车，于是又蹦又跳地来他的面前为他引路。一直走到了一田边，只看见三具尸体叠在一起。张佐治力气大，用手提起上面两具尸体，发现最下面那具尸体还在微微颤动，于是喂给那人热水喝，不一会儿那人醒了。他讲起了经过：“我是名商人，在路上看见两个人挑着竹筐去集市，筐中有许多青蛙。我为它们感到悲哀，于是我便买下了青蛙把它们全放生了。那两个卖蛙的人说：‘这里水池很浅，即使你把青蛙放生了，也会被别人捉去；前面有一潭深水，是个放生池。’我于是便跟那两人前往放生池。可料想，那两个人挥动斧头，于是，我就被他们伤害了。我的两个随从还没走远，身上带着几百两金子，（他们）肯定把我的随从诱惑到这里，把他们杀害然后抢走金子。"张佐治回到郡内，急忙下令捉捕。不出几天人的金子都落网了，一审讯便吐露了事实，把他们处死。夺回来的金子还给了商人。
