韩魏公在大名日，有人献玉盏二只，云耕者入坏冢而得，表里无纤瑕可指，真绝宝也。公以百金答之，尤为宝玩。乃开醇召漕使显官，特设一卓，覆以绣衣，致玉盏其上，且将用之酌酒，遍劝坐客。俄为吏将误触台倒，玉盏俱碎，坐客皆愕然，吏将伏地待罪。公神色不动，笑谓坐客曰：“物破亦自有时。”谓吏将曰：“汝误也，非故也，何罪之有？”公之量宽大重厚如此。
韩琦大度译文及注释
译文
韩琦是宋朝的重臣，十分有名气。（他的）堂兄弟中有个人送给他一只玉杯，说是耕地的人进入在修的坟墓得到的，（玉杯）从里到外没有一丝斑点，果真是绝无仅有的好东西。韩琦用百两金子答谢他（弟），特别视为珍宝（很喜欢）。于是打开好酒召集负责水运粮食的官员和显要官员，特意准备了一桌饭菜，用绣着花纹的台布覆盖着，把玉杯放在上面，并准备用它来进（饮）酒，不一会被一个武官不慎碰倒了桌子，玉杯摔得粉碎，在座的客人都很惊愕，那个武官趴在地上等着发落。韩琦却不慌不乱，笑着对大家说：“东西也有它破损的时候。”又对那个武官说：“你是不小心触翻了桌子，不是故意的，你又有什么罪？”韩魏公的度量如此宽厚。
