雪满前庭月色闲，主人留客未能还。
预愁明日相思处，匹马千山与万山。
夜宴南陵留别鉴赏
诗的第一句“雪满前庭月色闲”，点明了节候与时间。雪满前庭，正当冬令。为什么许多送别诗的背景都是冰雪满径的隆冬？是什么理由催促人们在这本来不利于远行的季节踏上征程？这其中的奥秘是不难发现的。残腊将尽，春气欲来之时，正是中国民间最隆重的年节到来之际。合家团聚，共度佳节，成了人们最美好的愿望。难怪那冰雪覆盖的山路上。总会留下许多人匆匆的足迹。
“月色”二字。说明别宴在夜间举行。雪满前庭，当然月色也满前庭。月光与雪光交辉。好一个银装世界!然而这样的美景却无人去赏，也无心去赏。一个“闲”字，流露出多少惋惜与感叹!
回乡意切，归心似箭。本应趁着这皎皎的月光，日夜兼程地赶路。然而，“主人留客未能还”。盛情难却，只好暂留一宵，领受主人的盛宴，也领受主人的盛情。
觥筹交错，酒酣耳热，本来是令人欢快的。然而诗人却发愁了。“预愁明日相思处”，他不为今宵而愁，而是为明日而愁。世界上没有不散的筵席，明日必然要踏上孤独的旅途。明朝一别、匹马孤身，说不尽的相思，走不完的山路。一句“匹马千山与万山”，余音袅袅，韵味无穷。
这首诗虽短短四句，但写得情真意切。哀婉动人。特别是把别宴的欢乐与意想中别后的凄苦对照起来写，给读者留下了很深的印象。
