译文
脂粉塘水在雪景间流淌，仿佛在洗濯当年宫女雪白的肌肤，使我一早起来，就激起了作诗的愿望。
白雪茫茫，何处寻西施的遗影？但见垂柳挂满了冰雪，像鬓发添上了白霜。
井口堆雪像舀满了银子，梅园的雪粉还沾着芳香，高高低低的屋顶上，堆积着美玉，上下闪光。
我把白居易的诗作吟唱，眼前浮现着当年吴王夫差的富贵景象。
注释
姑苏台：一名胥台，在江苏吴县西南姑胥山上，传春秋时吴王夫差曾与西施作乐于上。
断塘：指脂粉塘，为吴王宫人倾倒脂粉及洗濯处，在吴县西南灵岩山下。
索：应当。
匙：此作动词，舀上。藻井：此指壁有彩饰的井，与作为天花板形式之一的古建筑术语“藻井”不同。
参差：此指屋瓦高下不齐。秦观《春日》：“霁光浮瓦碧参差。”
乐天词：白居易曾做苏州刺史，有《题灵岩寺》等诗。乐天，白居易字。

这首小令题为《姑苏台赏雪》，一开始却从距台有数峰之隔的“断塘”述起。“断塘”即脂粉塘，元林坤《诚斋杂记》：“吴故宫有香水溪，乃西施浴处，人呼为‘脂粉塘’。”凭这个处所，已足与同样因西施缘故而驰名的姑苏台发生感情上的联系。“洗凝脂”意含双关，它已暗点出“雪”的影响，实是因断塘塘岸的积雪白如凝脂，而联想起西施当年在此洗浴的景象。由此语激发起诗情和游兴，引出“觅西施”；再由觅西施不得，但见柳树积雪如“萧萧鬓丝”的怅惘，领出姑苏台的登临。这种针线细密、接笋无痕的布局，不仅预先交代了姑苏台外围的雪景，而且也表明作者“赏雪”并非单纯的冬令游览，而是“怀古”寄托的表现。
下片正面转入“姑苏台赏雪”。“银匙”、“粉香”、“玉参差”，生动地绘现了姑苏台上高高下下的积雪景观。以银、粉、玉作为比拟，与末句的“富贵”遥遥相应。“富贵似吴王在时”，表面上是赞词，其实却包含着微意。这是在说吴王富贵久已不存，如今台上的“富贵”气象，不过是如银如粉如玉的雪堆的错觉而已。作者在怀古意绪的驱动下，回忆起“吴王在时”的当年风流是不难想见的，但他原始的目的是“觅西施”，而此时却无言提及。他所吟唱的“一曲乐天词”，也已游离了登台的初衷（白居易《题灵岩寺》之类游吴作品，并无丝毫怀古内容）。这一切正暗示了作者事实上的失落感。作者将感情表现得如此隐婉，实有一种“伤心人别有怀抱”的意味。
