译文
因为玉童来迎接浮丘伯，真仙的居所都萧瑟了，没有许飞琼，瑶台十分空旷寂寥。
在夜晚的宴会上凝聚着清香，那天姿国色且借给你观赏，你可不要取道去那姑苏城去，像那范蠡那样带着美色到那太湖上去。
注释
菩萨蛮：词牌名，又名《子夜歌》《重叠金》《花溪碧》，双调四十四字，用韵两句一换，凡四易韵，平仄递转。
杭妓往苏迓（yà）新守：元本题“杭妓往苏迓新守杨元素，寄苏守王规甫”。傅本无“新守”二字。明刊全集、二妙集、毛本题作“杭妓往苏”。此据紫本、百本。王规甫：名诲。范成大《吴郡志》卷一一“题名”：王诲于熙宁年间，以朝散大夫、尚书司勋郎中知苏州。
浮丘伯：又称浮持有公，古仙人。《列仙传》卷上：“王子乔者，周灵王太子晋也。好吹笙，作凤凰鸣。游伊洛之间，道士浮丘公接以上嵩高山。”
洞天：《茅君内传》：“大天之内，有地之洞天三十六所，乃真仙所居。”
不用许飞琼。瑶台空月明:：孟綮《本事诗·事感第二》：“诗人许浑尝梦登山，有宫室凌云，人云此昆仑也。既入，见数人方饮酒，招之。至暮而罢。赋涛云：‘晓人瑶台雾气清，坐中唯有许飞琼。尘心未断俗缘在，十里下山空月明。’”
借与韦郎看：韦应物《郡斋雨中与诸文士燕集》：“兵卫森画戟，宴寝凝清香。”
姑苏：龙笺引《吴越春秋》：“越进西施于吴，请退师。吴得之，筑姑苏台，游宴其上。”《史记》卷三一《吴太伯世家》：“越因伐吴，败之姑苏。”《集解》引《越绝书》云：“阖庐起姑苏台，三年聚材，五年乃成，高见三百里。”《索引》：“姑苏，台名，在吴县西三十里。”
五湖：《国语》卷二一《越语下》：越灭吴，“反至五湖，范蠡辞于王日：‘君王勉之，臣不复入越国矣。’……遂乘轻舟以浮于五湖，莫知其所终极。”

菩萨蛮·杭妓往苏迓新守创作背景
这首词作于宋神宗熙宁七年（1074年）七月。当时，杭州知州陈襄将罢任，新任知州杨绘正在赴杭州途中，杭妓前往苏州迎接，于是苏轼信笔所之，写下这首《菩萨蛮》词，寄给苏州太守王诲。

菩萨蛮·杭妓往苏迓新守鉴赏
游仙词的创作与游仙诗有一定的渊源关系，多半来自道教的思想影响，但并不尽然。《菩萨蛮·杭妓往苏迓新守》上半篇便是一个例外。它可能与唐代以来的风习有关，即以“仙”指艳冶女子，或指妓女。唐代张鹜的传奇作品明明是写文人逛妓院的放荡行径，却美其名曰《游仙窟》，就是一个显例。
上片名为游仙，而实际上是说杭妓往迎新太守之后杭州的空虚冷落。词人以“玉童”比“杭妓”，以“浮丘伯”比“新守”，以“洞天”比杭州，并以秋天萧瑟凄凉的气氛来衬托杭州的冷落。三、四句再以“许飞琼”比“杭妓”，以“瑶台”比杭州（或妓院），以“空月明”来比喻或象征杭州（或妓院）的寥落。上述所有喻体（或象征体）和本体的对应关系，多是滑稽可笑的。
下片是同苏州太守王诲和新太守杨绘的调侃，在字面上虽转向表现现实，而游戏的性质不变。前两句是说，由于“杭妓”在座，在夜晚的招待宴会上凝聚着清香，那天姿国色姑且借给你王太守观赏。这里用了典故，因为唐代诗人韦应物与词人的相识王诲同是苏州太守，所以以“韦郎”借指王诲，是十分贴切的。后两句是托王诲转告杨绘：你可不要取道苏州城，否则见了美色就会动心，要学当年的范蠡，带着美女乘着小船飘到太湖上去了。诙谐戏谑之意都十分明显。

苏轼（1037－1101），北宋文学家、书画家、美食家。字子瞻，号东坡居士。汉族，四川人，葬于颍昌（今河南省平顶山市郏县）。一生仕途坎坷，学识渊博，天资极高，诗文书画皆精。其文汪洋恣肆，明白畅达，与欧阳修并称欧苏，为“唐宋八大家”之一；诗清新豪健，善用夸张、比喻，艺术表现独具风格，与黄庭坚并称苏黄；词开豪放一派，对后世有巨大影响，与辛弃疾并称苏辛；书法擅长行书、楷书，能自创新意，用笔丰腴跌宕，有天真烂漫之趣，与黄庭坚、米芾、蔡襄并称宋四家；画学文同，论画主张神似，提倡“士人画”。著有《苏东坡全集》和《东坡乐府》等。
