译文
西园的花落了厚厚的一地，花的花期是如此之短，转眼即逝。盛开的时候寂寞孤独，却无人发现；偏偏在它凋零之后又引起人的感慨悲哀。
昨天去了西山一趟，山上的花还开着。一边是山峰还在承受风雨的余威，另一边是浓云散开天空已露出了夕阳。
注释
①西园：汉上林苑又称西园。
②过眼韶华：谓经过眼前但随即消逝的春光。草草：匆忙仓促的样子。
③寂寂：孤单，冷落。
④嗔（chēn）：责怪。摇落：凋残，零落。
⑤浑未了：全然没有结束。
⑥杜鹃：杜鹃花。红似烧：红得像野火。

玉楼春·西园花落深堪扫创作背景
1905年，王国维在外地教书。当看到花开花落，触景伤情，想起自己远方的亲人。不由感慨韶华将逝，人之将老。

玉楼春·西园花落深堪扫鉴赏
前两句“西园花落深堪扫，过眼韶华真草草”是写景伤春。由春花凋零已尽，过眼韶华强调花期本就不长。但今日的西园之花是“开时寂寂无人，今日偏嗔摇落早。”盛开之时寂寞孤独，无人发现；偏偏在凋零之后又引起后来者的感慨悲哀。说明上天给人才能，又让他绝世而无知音。“开时寂寂尚无人，今日偏嗔摇落早”，就是这种“怨”的一个变相的反映。
接下来，王思维笔锋一转，展现了人超脱的一面。所谓“无待”的境界。花的美好和人的才能并不因无人欣赏就不存在，它们都是大自然的一部分。只不过作者借“山中”的“花事”表现出来。
“昨朝却走西山道，花事山中浑未了”，山中花比园中花有更强的生命力是一方面，更重要的是，当你换了一个更开阔的视角来观察人生的时候，你对人生顿时就有了一种完全不同于过去的新的感悟：这两句所写景物很美丽，而其中所蕴涵的那种超越自我的生生境界更美丽。
