译文
这样繁花似锦的迷人春色无人赏识，都付予了破败的断井颓垣。这样美好的春天，宝贵的时光如何度过呢？使人欢心愉快的事究竟什么人家才有呢？雕梁画栋、飞阁流丹、碧瓦亭台，如云霞一般灿烂绚丽。和煦的春风，带着蒙蒙细雨，烟波浩渺的春水中浮动着画船，封建家长们把这美好的春光看的太卑贱了。
注释
姹紫嫣红：形容花的鲜艳美丽。
断井颓垣：断了的井栏，倒了的短墙。这里是形容庭院的破旧冷落。
奈何天：无可如何的意思。谁家：哪一家。
朝飞暮卷：形容楼阁巍峨，景色开阔。
翠轩：华美的亭台楼阁。
锦屏人：被阻隔在深闺中的人。忒：太。韶光：大好春光。

此曲表现了杜丽娘游园恨晚、青春寂寞的悔怨，进而控诉了了封建礼教和封建观念对少女青春的无情摧残。杜丽娘作为一个刚刚觉醒的少女，感叹春光易逝，哀伤春光寂寞，渴望自由幸福的生活，强烈要求身心解放，这折射出明中叶后要求个性解放的时代精神，对后世深有影响。在《红楼梦》中，即有林黛玉读这首曲，联想到自己的遭遇处境，无限感伤的情节。

汤显祖（1550—1616），中国明代戏曲家、文学家。字义仍，号海若、若士、清远道人。汉族，江西临川人。公元1583年（万历十一年）中进士，任太常寺博士、礼部主事，因弹劾申时行，降为徐闻典史，后调任浙江遂昌知县，又因不附权贵而免官，未再出仕。曾从罗汝芳读书，又受李贽思想的影响。在戏曲创作方面，反对拟古和拘泥于格律。作有传奇《牡丹亭》、《邯郸记》、《南柯记》、《紫钗记》，合称《玉茗堂四梦》，以《牡丹亭》最著名。在戏曲史上，和关汉卿、王实甫齐名，在中国乃至世界文学史上都有着重要的地位。
