译文
钱塘江边是谁的家乡呢？江上的女孩全部都漂亮如花。
好色的吴王统治时她们不敢出门，如今却毫无顾忌地到春江洗纱。
注释
浣：洗濯 。纱：棉、丝织物的通称。
钱塘江：在今浙江。
胜：超过，胜过。
吴王：特指春秋时期吴国的国君夫差。不得出：不能出。因夫差好色，越王勾践曾献美女西施与他，以乱吴国之政。据说西施本是越国的一个浣纱女，故说“吴王在时不得出”。
公然：毫无顾忌，公开地。
浣纱女创作背景
此诗是诗人为了赞颂盛唐朝政而作，胡问涛（胡嗣坤）和罗琴的《王昌龄集编年校注》将此诗系于诗人谪官后，具体创作时间不详。

王昌龄 (698— 756），字少伯，河东晋阳（今山西太原）人。盛唐著名边塞诗人，后人誉为“七绝圣手”。早年贫贱，困于农耕，年近不惑，始中进士。初任秘书省校书郎，又中博学宏辞，授汜水尉，因事贬岭南。与李白、高适、王维、王之涣、岑参等交厚。开元末返长安，改授江宁丞。被谤谪龙标尉。安史乱起，为刺史闾丘所杀。其诗以七绝见长，尤以登第之前赴西北边塞所作边塞诗最著，有“诗家夫子王江宁”之誉（亦有“诗家天子王江宁”的说法）。
