译文
原先的约会之期，成不了现实。昨夜，他爽约了，回来之后孤单地枕着凤枕。现在看来情分还是会趋于亲近的，只是怕再过一些时候就不如从前了。
赶紧将自己的一片深情厚意托付给书信，剪裁好信笺，用细细的字写好信。再把彼此的情分重新问清楚，怎么样？两人共结姻缘会很久远吗？
注释
眼约：犹目成，通过眉目传情来结成亲好。
凤枕：绣枕，绣有凤凰图案的枕头。
相于：相厚、相亲近的意思。
双鱼：谓书信。
蛮笺：唐时高丽纸的别称。
得：语助词，用于动词之后，犹着。

南乡子·眼约也应虚鉴赏
这首词描写了一个恋爱中的女子的心理活动，她对爱情犹疑，但却执着追求，通过反复的诰问，希望能得到一个确定的答复。从女性复杂的心理世界出发描写爱情，可以说是晏几道词作中爱情词的一个特色。词的首句讲到两个人的约定似乎出了问题，男方的爽约，使这位女子感到他们的感情并不是非常牢固。晚上，孤枕独眠，难以入睡，千万思量，满腹狐疑。她想按照如今的这种情形，两人就已经有了许多的生分，如果要长期交往，只怕时间越久，感情越淡，不会再像当初那般情意绵绵。但女主人公似乎并不想轻易就放弃这份感情，很希望得到对方一个确切的音信。于是就用心剪下一幅蛮笺，写下细细密密的小字，把自己的深情厚意托付给那鱼雁来传递。我再次问一问，我们俩的感情究竟如何呢？我们究竟能不能结下天长地久的好姻缘呢？词作就是通过这位女子反复的思量、反复的追问，来探究她的内心世界，来塑造她丰满的形象的。小词虽小，容量却不小。
送往迎来的欢场里，多的是虚情假意。晏几道喜欢被骗，喜欢将虚情当作真意。然而，在现实的逼迫下，晏几道也有清醒的时候。这首词借歌妓口诉说，表明晏几道对与歌妓情感的另类观点。眉眼传情，原来是虚假的应酬。凤枕孤眠，才体会到欢场中的欺骗。想抓住眼前已有的情分，好好相处，但是，在欢场中被骗多了，不禁疑虑：“只恐多时不似初。”这些情感经不起时问的检验。离别后欲将心事和情感都写入书信，托邮使带给GREn/ target=_blank class=infotextkey>情人。信中追问：“共结因缘久远无？”词人总是不甘心或不相信自己被骗，还要一再追问。答案其实是很清楚的，只是词人故意不正视现实而已。

晏几道（1030-1106，一说1038—1110 ，一说1038-1112），男，汉族，字叔原，号小山，著名词人，抚州临川文港沙河（今属江西省南昌市进贤县）人。晏殊第七子。历任颍昌府许田镇监、乾宁军通判、开封府判官等。性孤傲，晚年家境中落。词风哀感缠绵、清壮顿挫。一般讲到北宋词人时，称晏殊为大晏，称晏几道为小晏。《雪浪斋日记》云：“晏叔原工小词，不愧六朝宫掖体。”如《鹧鸪天》中的“舞低杨柳楼心月，歌尽桃花扇底风”等等词句，备受人们的赞赏。
