译文
门前车马喧腾，有乘着朱轮金鞍的贵宾经过。他说他从朝廷而来，回归故乡，见到故乡的人感到亲切。我赶紧呼唤自己的小儿子打扫中堂招待客人，坐在一起共同谈论人生的悲辛。我们相对而坐，桌上的两觞酒还没饮尽，暂时停下酒杯就泪流满面了。我哀叹自己漂泊万里，已经三十年过去了。可怜我的半生，空谈王霸之略，却始终没有得到过朝廷的重用，从没做过朝廷重员。我的雄剑空藏在玉匣之中，已经很久没有用过了；兵书上浮满了灰尘，也好久没有人听我谈论这些用兵之策了。在朝廷中没有人和我的意见相同，我只得一样流离到湘水之滨。真正懂得我的知己，多已是泉下之人了。生来苦于百战，在征战中死去的人太多太多了，死去之后可以与万人做邻居。北风扬起胡沙，掩埋了周秦两朝。运势尚且如此，何况是在茫茫苍穹间渺小的世人？心里无限伤感凄怆，又能说什么呢？就让一切顺其自然，存亡随从天意吧。

丹霄：指朝廷。
紫绶：紫色丝带。古代高级官员用它来系官印。
阴符：古兵书名。泛指兵书。
廓落：孤寂貌。
宗党：宗族，乡党。
埋翳（yì）：掩埋，掩盖。
大钧：指天或自然。

李白（701年－762年），字太白，号青莲居士，唐朝浪漫主义诗人，被后人誉为“诗仙”。祖籍陇西成纪(待考)，出生于西域碎叶城，4岁再随父迁至剑南道绵州。李白存世诗文千余篇，有《李太白集》传世。762年病逝，享年61岁。其墓在今安徽当涂，四川江油、湖北安陆有纪念馆。
