方以智（1611—1671），明代著名哲学家、科学家。字密之，号曼公，又号鹿起、龙眠愚者等，汉族，安徽桐城人。崇祯13年进士，官检讨。弘光时为马士英、阮大铖中伤，逃往广东以卖药自给。永历时任左中允，遭诬劾。清兵入粤后，在梧州出家，法名弘智，发愤著述同时，秘密组织反清复明活动。康熙10年3月，因“粤难”被捕，十月，于押解途中自沉于江西万安惶恐滩殉国。学术上方以智家学渊源，博采众长，主张中西合璧，儒、释、道三教归一。一生著述400余万言，多有散佚，存世作品数十种，内容广博，文、史、哲、地、医药、物理，无所不包。
