林披（公元733-802年） 字茂则、茂彦，号师道，唐高平太守林万宠之次子，莆田县人。唐天宝十一年（公元752年），明经擢第，为将乐令、迁漳州刺史、澧州（今湖南澧县）司马、康州（今广东德庆）刺史，贬临汀郡(今福建长汀)曹椽，改临江（今四川忠县）令。后授临汀别驾知州事，汀俗尚鬼，作《无鬼论》以晓喻民众。官终检校太子兼苏州（今江苏苏州市）别驾，赐紫金鱼袋、上柱国。卒后赠睦州（今浙江建德）刺史，传说林披有九子，皆官至州刺史，世号“九牧林家”。
