韦瓘，京兆万年（今陕西西安）人。（一说桂林人）。字茂弘，生于唐德宗贞元五年（789），卒年不详。唐宪宗元和四年（809）己丑科状元及第。后李德裕罢相，韦瓘于大和八年（834）被贬康州，后移明州长史。至会昌末年，任楚州刺史。大中二年（848）任桂林观察使，不久授太子宾客，分司东都，到任后病故。韦瓘喜作诗，常有吟咏。《全唐诗》有其存诗一首，《全唐诗续拾》补收其诗两句。注：唐代有韦珩之弟亦名韦瓘，但二人只是同名。
