隋南兰陵人，字温文。南朝后梁国主。萧岿子。其姊为炀帝皇后。岿卒，嗣位为后梁国主，年号广运。隋文帝开皇中，废梁国，征入朝，拜柱国，封莒国公。琮宽宏大度，博学有文艺，兼善弓马。炀帝即位，以皇后故，甚见亲重，改封梁公。琮虽羁旅，见北朝豪贵，无所降下，且有童谣曰：“萧萧亦复起。”帝乃忌之，遂废于家。
