今白，字大牛。番禺人。俗姓谢，原名淩霄。诸生。明桂王永历七年（一六五三），皈天然禅师薙染登具。十年，值雷峰建置梵刹，工用不赀，白发愿行募，沿门持钵十馀载，丛林规制次第具举。一夕行乞，即次端坐而逝。事见清宣统《番禺县续志》卷二七。
