广东东莞人，字文哲。弘治六年进士。授兵科给事中，强直敢言。正德初为云南左参政，忤刘瑾，借故罚米五百石，售家产以偿。累迁右副都御史，巡抚苏松诸府，督兵歼刘七于狼山。世宗即位，升南京户部尚书。卒官。
