盍西村，生平不详。盱眙（今属江苏省）人。元·钟嗣成《录鬼簿》未载其名，而有盍志学，或以为系一人。《录鬼薄》把他列为“前辈已死名公”，称其为“学士”。他的散曲多为写景之作，歌颂隐逸生活，风格清新自然。明朱权《太和正音谱》评论说其词“如清风爽籁”。其散曲作品现存小令17首，套数1套。
