张廷玉（1672年-1755年），字衡臣，号砚斋，安徽桐城人。清康熙时任刑部左侍郎，雍正帝时曾任礼部尚书、户部尚书、吏部尚书、保和殿大学士（内阁首辅）、首席军机大臣等职。康熙末年，整治松弛的吏治，后又完善军机制度。先后任《亲征平定朔北方略》纂修官，《省方盛典》《清圣祖实录》副总裁官，《明史》《四朝国史》《大清会典》《世宗实录》总裁官。死后谥号“文和”，配享太庙，是整个清朝唯一一个配享太庙的汉臣。
