用法偏正式；作主语、宾语；含贬义。

辨形“稽”，不能写作“机”。

辨析无稽之谈和“流言蜚语”都可指没有根据的话。但无稽之谈只是指出这是没有根据的话；没有什么目的动机；“流言蜚语”多用来指那种出于险恶的用心；躲在背后散布的坏话。
