不遗余力的典故

公元前260年，秦王派大将白起，在赵国的长平一举击败了由赵括率领的四十万赵军。秦王乘机要挟赵王，要赵国割让六座城池给秦国，作为讲和的条件。

赵王连忙召来大将楼昌和上卿虞卿商量对策，说：“长平一战，我们吃了败仗，我想带领全部人马与秦军决一死战，你们看怎样？”

“这样做没用，还是派亲信使臣去讲和为好。”楼昌说。

虞卿不同意楼昌的主张，问赵王说：“大王，这次秦国究竟是想消灭我们赵国军队呢，还是打一打就回去？”
