越俎代庖的典故

在中华民族的历史传说中，有一位杰出的领袖叫唐尧。在唐尧的领导下，人民安居乐业。可是唐尧很谦虚，当他听说隐士许由很有才能的时候，就想把领导权让给许由。唐尧对许由说：“日月出来之后还不熄灭烛火，它和日月比起光亮来，不是太没有意义了吗？及时雨普降之后还去灌溉，对于润泽禾苗不是徒劳吗？您如果担任领袖，一定会把天下治理得更好，我占着这个位置还有什么意思呢？我觉得很惭愧，请允许我把天下交给您来治理。”

许由说：“您治理天下，已经治理得很好了。我如果再来代替你，不是沽名钓誉吗？我现在自食其力，要那些虚名干什么？鹪鹩在森林里筑巢，也不过占一棵树枝；鼹鼠喝黄河里的水，不过喝饱自己的肚皮。天下对我又有什么用呢？算了吧，厨师就是不做祭祀用的饭菜，管祭祀的人也不能越位来代替他下厨房做菜。”
