南朝时期，梁武帝经常召集文人谈经论史，范云、沈约等人引短推长，武帝十分高兴，经常给他们赏赐。一次武帝在别人说完后要刘峻发表看法，刘峻毫不犹豫用笔写了十多件事，切中时弊，在座的人大惊，武帝十分别满，再也不见刘峻了。
