公元前227年，秦国打败赵国迫近燕国。燕国太子丹请荆轲去刺杀秦王。荆轲带上秦王的仇人樊于期的人头及督亢地地图。太子丹把他送到易水边，高渐离击筑，荆轲高唱：“风萧萧兮易水寒，壮士一去兮不复还。”歌声激昂，场面真是令人发指。
