东汉时山东胶东书生公沙穆隐居在东莱山求学，为筹集求学经费，穿上粗布衣服到陈留郡长官吴大人家做舂米雇工，吴大人见其谈吐非凡，就与他结交为好友，并资助他继续求学。后来公沙穆学成成为一个有作为的正义官员。
